Answer Me This - Stuck on the PRT

1. How often do you take public transportation?

Almost never. The city buses don't come super close to my apartment and the bus schedule doesn't really work with my work schedule. I could ride the bus to work, but not home. My favorite form of public transit is the WVU PRT. It is kind of like riding the Monorail at Disney, but cheaper.

I did get stuck on the PRT once when it had a shut down. It was in the winter and I think one of the cars got stuck on some ice in the track. That wasn't as fun. When I was five years old, my family went to Busch Gardens and we got stuck on the monorail when it broke down, so maybe the PRT is just like an amusement park.

2. How many cousins do you have?

I have four first cousins. All from my Mom's side of the family.

3. Have you ever fired a gun?

Nope.

4. Do you ride roller coasters?

I've been on two. I didin't enjoy them I probably won't be riding more. I rode the Steel Dragon at Cedar Point and the Racer at Kennywood. I only went on the Racer because it is the only single track racer left in the world.

5. What's your favorite flower?

I like Gerbera daisies. I think they are really cheery.

6. Are you allergic to anything?

Dust, maybe?  Possibly strawberries. Cutting the up makes me itch, but I can eat them. Weird, I know.

Lunch - Week of June 23rd

Monday:
Monday's lunch was leftover Hamburger Helper Lasagna. I dressed it up with some white cheddar cheese flowers. Sides were green grapes, cherries and bell pepper strips.
This was packed in a blue My Bento Meal box.

Tuesday:
Tuesday I had a salad, chicken salad on a pita, white cheddar cheese squares, and cherries. The little container holds Italian salad dressing for dipping the pita.
This is packed in a red round bento from My Bento Meal.

Wednesday:
Tuesday and Wednesday lunches often look alike. This week was no exception. Chicken salad pita with Italian dressing for dipping. Cheese triangles, grapes, cucumber, bell pepper and a few tomatoes rounded out this lunch. I added a flower cupcake pick for some cuteness.

Thursday:
This lunch I packed but didn't eat. I wasn't feeling well Thursday morning and so stayed home for a bit. I went into work around lunchtime to attend a meeting but didn't grab my lunchbox.
This lunch featured chicken salad in a butterfly muffin cup, crackers to eat it with, veggies and cherries.

Friday:
On Friday we had staff development and lunch was provided. Unfortunately lunch was provided by a barbecue place and  all of the hot dished contained meat. I don't eat meat on Fridays, so I had salad and cheesecake. I'm not sure if I should make a complaint, you would think the planners might have thought there could be a vegetarian in the group.

Lunches - Week of June 16th

This was the week of the great garbage disposal stoppage. We couldn't run the dishwasher until it was fixed so we ate out more than usual.

Monday:

It was breakfast for lunch! Waffles, sausage patties, grapes, and for a special treat leftover peach cobbler. I also took a small container of syrup. The cobbler is my roommate's specialty, in fact that is what I asked for for my birthday, instead of cake.

This lunch was packed in my Bentgo. I bought it from Amazon.

Tuesday:

Tuesday was an ersatz gyro. Beef and a yellow tomato inside a pita pocket. I made tazitziki sauce to dip it in (in the small container). Sides were grapes, a giant strawberry (yes, that is a single strawberry cut up) and more peach cobbler.

This packed in my pink Sistema cube.

Wednesday:

By Wednesday things were looking a little bad with the dish situation. Clean bowls,  but not plates, forks but not spoons. I took half of a microwavable chicken pot pie and packaged applesauce for lunch.

Thursday:

Thursday I just gave up and ordered in. I had a veggie sub from Jimmy John's. I was disappointed because they no longer have sprouts. I love bean sprouts, they were my favorite part of the sandwich.

The garbage disposal was fixed on Thursday. Yea!

Friday:

Friday was a sweet potato and peas. I don't eat meat on most Fridays, so lunch is almost always a potato. Occasionally soup.

To end with a picture, this is the lunch box I used:

I wanted somthing fun and cute, so on non-bento days, I usually take Mr. Owl.

The best laid (meal) plans

Do you meal plan? I try to. Just a simple lay out of the main dish for lunch and dinner. I usually write my grocery list on an index card. On the back of the index card I write out my meal plan for the week.

Here is this week's plan:

(please excuse the bad iPad photo)

This week the plan kind of fell apart. Our garbage disposal stopped working, it was clogged and nothing would drain. We couldn't run the dishwasher or use half the sink. Thus we had a lot of dirty dishes and went out to eat a lot.

Instead of one meal out, I've had four, although only two of those were due to the pluming issue. Tuesdays are very long days for me-gone for 12+ hours- so I always plan for a fast food stop on the way home.

How well do you stick to the plan?

Answer Me This #1

My First Link up! Joining Kendra for Answer me this.

1. When's the last time you got a new bathing suit?

I don't know. 2010 maybe. I don't go swimming very often, even though our complex has a pool.
2. Who made the last incoming call on your phone?
Me! I wanted to know if anyone else wanted pizza for dinner. (They did).
3. If you receive communion, do you receive it in the hands or on the tongue?
On the tongue, with a spoon, because I'm Byzantine.
4. Do you have a tattoo?
Nope, I am terrified of needles.
5. How many dinner plates are in your house?
Nice dinner plates? 20. Correlle? About 8. Plastic? About 6. There is 1 more random plate too, I think my roommate's former roommate may have left it behind. I'm sharing an apartemnt with two friends. We seem to have duplicates (or triplicates) of everything.
6. Do you have an accent?
Sort of. Although I'm not from Pittsburgh, I have that regional accent. Yinz should look up Kendra's blog at Catholic All Year.

Lunches - Week of June 9th

I packed a couple of bentos this week, I don't pack bentos everyday, some leftovers work better other containers and sometimes I order in. This week I pack three bentos but two were identical.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Lunch was chicken salad on a pita and tomatoes, colby jack cheese cubes, apple sauce and Rainer cherries.
Rainier cherries are my favorite fruit so when I saw them I bought a bag, even though the are on the pricy side. Also, I have braces, so applesauce is frequently in my lunch because I can't bite into most fruit right now.

This lunchbox is from Walmart. A three pack was less than two dollars. I like them because I can toss them in the dishwasher.

Thursday

Thursday's lunch was a buttered mini bagel, leftover breaded chicken breast, tomatoes and more cherries. I used wax paper to separate the bagel from the chicken so it wouldn't get soggy. I would like to get nice plastic bento dividers that would look better. Maybe someday.

This box is from My Bento Meal. I found it at TJ Maxx.
